Helpful Hints - If you are looking to heighten your chances of getting published by Strawberry Comics, please read on for a few helpful hints.
- We primarily print Black & White comics. We will consider Color comics if it is a series in progress (like a webcomic) or a one-off story. Please just be aware that we are more likely to publish B&W comics due to affordability and marketability.
- Epics are tempting, but we are more likely to pick up shorter stories or one-off projects. Our definition of epic is more than two volumes worth of material.
- The theme of love is quite non-specific as there are many forms of love. Yes, there is romantic love, but there is also platonic, parental, unrequited, obsessive, dangerous... the list goes on. Feel free to explore the many aspects of love with your stories.
- What we are looking for is good art and engaging stories. We want to care about your characters and their lives. Let's see those character development skills really pop out at us.
- We are non-specific to the style of art in your project so please don't feel pressured to work in "manga-style" for us. Let your invididual style shine through in your work.
- Stories set in Japan that serve no real purpose in moving the plot or characters with Japanese names just for the sake of it are something we'd like to avoid. Let's see some variety in names and locations. Having Japanese characters within your story is fine, but we'd like to definitely see variety.
- Grammar and writing skills are important. When submitting your application, please be professional about it. Capitalize where it needs it. Do not use "net speak." You'll be taken more seriously by presenting yourself seriously.
If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, please read the following information for what to include in your submission application. Please be sure to follow all of the submission guidelines listed here. Not following them shows you are unable to follow directions and will affect our decision. It may take some time to process your application, so please be patient with us.
